The ancient and historically well-known Kunnin Mathilakam Sree Mahadeva Temple situating at cheruthazham village in Kannur District Kerala. This Temple has been situating in the valley of Ezhimala beside Chemaballikund – Ramapuram River. The self-oriented idol of Lord Mahadeva (Shiva) is another important factor regarding this temple. It is believed that during the Sathya Yuga (Truth Eva) Lord Brahma and Lord Vishnu had observed the deep meditation in this holy land to prove their prowess. This time Lord Mahadev interfered to make the compromise for their dispute and asked them to find out the beginning and end of Shiva Linga. Because of the presence of Lord Brahma and Lord Vishnu this land is also regarded as the uniting place of these two deities. The relics of these myth is still visible in the surrounding areas of this temple.
